Daddy- Long-Legs (review)

Have you read Daddy Long Legs by Jean Webster? I vaguely remember the plot from an animated series I watched a long time ago. I just finished reading the actual book now, and the ending sent chills down my spine. It's so weird... so get this: Judy had been writing letters to someone she thought of as 'Daddy' for four years. Then, it turns out that 'Daddy' is Jervie, someone just proposed to Judy!

If I were Judy, I would be so mad at the fact that he lied to me. He should have stopped playing that 'daddy' role the moment he saw her as a love interest, shouldn't he? I was so invested in Judy's honest and personal letter to her 'daddy'... maybe that's why I feel so betrayed when it turns out that 'daddy' is Jervie after all. Their 12-year age gap doesn't even bother me. I just hate the feeling of being lied to. It seems to me Judy is manipulated :((
